STRONG INTERNATIONAL FIELD SHAPING UP FOR

2012 ISU FOUR CONTINENTS FIGURE SKATING CHAMPIONSHIPS

Entries include 2011 World champion Chan; Reigning Olympic ice dancing champions Virtue & Moir

Colorado Springs, Colo. (Jan. 25, 2012) – The 2012 ISU Four Continents Figure Skating Championships are set for Feb. 9-12 at the Colorado Springs World Arena in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Now in its 14th year, the event is sanctioned by the International Skating Union (ISU) and features skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania.

To date, the field is highlighted by

Daisuke Takahashi, Japan – Defending Four Continents champion

Patrick Chan, Canada - 2011 World champion, lives and trains in Colorado Springs

Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, Canada – Reigning Olympic ice dancing champions

Mao Asada, Japan – 2012 Japanese champion

Cynthia Phaneuf – 2012 Canadian champion

Wenjing Sui and Cong Han, China – two-time World Junior champions

Meagan Duhamel and Eric Radford, Canada – 2012 Canadian champions


Team USA’s entries will be determined Jan. 29, 2012, at the conclusion of the 2012 Prudential U.S. Figure Skating Championships. Full event coverage of the U.S. Championships is available at www.icenetwork.com.

U.S. Figure Skating is the national governing body for the sport of figure skating in the United States as recognized by the United States Olympic Committee and the International Skating Union. U.S. Figure Skating is comprised of more than 680 member clubs, collegiate clubs, and school-affiliated clubs and more than 1,000 registered Basic Skills skating schools representing approximately 180,000 members. U.S. Figure Skating is charged with the development of the sport on all levels within the United States including athletes, officials, sanctioning of events and exhibitions, and establishing the rules and guidelines by which the sport is governed.
