In addition to meeting with the media, he visited the Pillar Institute, a membership organization dedicated to lifelong learning.
Dave Rich, Executive Director, was very happy Mayor Bach wanted to speak to Pillar members.
He said, “We were very excited about the opportunity to have the Mayor speak to us about issues that affect seniors and older adults in COS. Sometimes we feel we don’t have a forum or venue where we can voice our concerns. By offering to meet with us it made us feel special.”
Mayor Bach spoke on his “Spirit of the Springs” Initiative, streetlights, fiscal sustainability, healthcare, parks, Ivywild, education and other topics of interest.
The session was so chock-full of compelling issues that Walter Publishing’s Cheyenne Edition featured a full article in their January 13, 2012 publication.
In the audience was former Colorado Springs City Manager, George Fellows. He laughed with fellow members as Mayor Bach quipped, ”We can’t do things like before. We don’t have money falling out of the sky like when George was managing the city!”

Mayor Bach will return to Pillar Institute later this year to report back on exciting accomplishments for Colorado Springs. He hopes this well-informed group will hold him accountable!
